Access to Medications

After recurrence of ovarian cancer, many women become interested in new drug options. There are several ways to obtain access to medications, such as new chemotherapies or biologics. In some instances, the drugs are approved by the FDA and in other cases, the drugs are not yet approved. There are three avenues to consider when seeking access to medications:

  • Clinical trials involve drugs which may or may not be approved by the FDA. If you are qualified for a clinical trial and your doctor thinks the drugs may benefit you, he/she can provide information to enroll in a clinical trial. This is often an effective way to obtain access to drugs which are not yet approved by the FDA. Learn more>

  • Compassionate use programs is a mechanism to obtain unapproved but promising new treatments for patients who would otherwise be unable to receive it. Learn more>
