General Information about Ovarian Cancer

  • Medline Plus Health Information - The National Library of Medicine’s health information web site for the general public.

  • National Cancer Institute - federal government’s principal agency for cancer research and training. Regularly updated statements on screening and treatment of ovarian cancer. Also contains more general information on cancer treatments, clinical trials etc.

  • Gynecologic Cancer Foundation - The mission of the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation (GCF) is to ensure public awareness of gynecologic cancer prevention, early diagnosis and proper treatment as well as supports research and training related to gynecologic cancers. GCF advances this mission by increasing public and private funds that aid in the development and implementation of programs to meet these goals.

  • Women’s Cancer Network, Gynecologic Cancer Foundation - Associated with the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, the WCN web site offers understandable information about gynecologic cancers and treatment options. Also contains directories of certified gynecologic oncologists and recent news releases related to gynecologic cancers.

  • Gynecologic Oncology Group -a non-profit organization for promoting excellence in the quality and integrity of clinical and basic scientific research in the field of gynecologic malignancies.

  • Ovarian Cancer National Alliance [OCNA] – OCNA is a patient-led, umbrella organization uniting ovarian cancer activists, women’s health advocates and healthcare professionals in the effort to increase public and professional understanding of ovarian cancer and to advocate for more effective diagnostics, treatment and a cure. MOCA is a partner member of OCNA.

  • National Ovarian Cancer Coalition[NOCC] is an ovarian cancer public information and education organization.

  • The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community- based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

  • Society of Gynecologic Oncologists - A national medical specialty society of physicians who are trained in the comprehensive management of women with malignancies of the reproductive tract. Its purpose is to improve the care of women with gynecologic cancer by encouraging research, disseminating knowledge which will raise the standards of practice in the prevention and treatment of gynecologic malignancies and cooperating with other organizations interested in women's health care, oncology and related fields.

Information Related to the Genetics of Ovarian Cancer

  • National Cancer Institute - Updated information on the Genetics of Breast and Ovarian Cancer.

  • National Cancer Institute-Cancer Genetics Service Directory - Directory of individuals who provide services related to cancer genetics [cancer risk assessment, genetic counseling, genetic susceptibility testing, and other].

  • University of Minnesota Familial Cancer Clinic – The Familial Cancer Clinic is a specialized program that evaluates a family’s history of cancer to determine risk and recommendations, appropriate interventions and screening.

  • FORCE - a nonprofit organization for women who are at high risk of getting Breast and Ovarian Cancer cancers due to their family history and genetic status, and for members of families in which a BRCA mutation may be present. This web site can be a helpful resource for anyone who knows she is at risk, who wonders whether she might be at risk, or who cares about the issues and concerns that we face.

  • Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry - an international registry of families with two or more relatives with ovarian cancer. In addition to ovarian cancer research, the registry offers a help-line, education, information and peer support for women with a high risk of ovarian cancer.

  • Fertile Hope - Founded in October 2001, Fertile Hope is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility. This website also provides resources for alternative parenting options including egg donation, surrogacy, and adoption

  • The National Adoption Information Clearinghouse was established by Congress in 1987 to provide free information on all aspects of adoption. Their website provides comprehensive information on domestic and intercountry adoptions.
