Special Guest Dr. Melissa Geller, Assistant Professor,
University of Minnesota, Division of Gynecologic Oncology,
MOCA Board Member and Ovarian Cancer Survivor Joy Wetzel
and MOCA Medical Education Program Manager Kathy McGovern
Ovarian cancer survivors know how important it is for health care professionals to recognize the symptoms of ovarian cancer. At the June MOCA meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to learn how MOCA is raising awareness of the disease, its symptoms and the importance of early detection through one of its educational programs called Grand Rounds. This program pairs a gynecologic oncologist, who is a member of MOCA’s Medical Advisory Board, with an ovarian cancer survivor to deliver prepared talks to practicing doctors through continuing education programs at the hospitals where they provide care.
MOCA’s 2006-2007 goal for Grand Rounds is to reach 500 health care professionals at 20 hospitals throughout Minnesota. So far this year, nine presentations have been scheduled and we anticipate they will reach more than 300 individuals.
We hope you’ll join us for this informative meeting. There will be a time to socialize with other ovarian cancer survivors, family members and friends. Light refreshments will be provided.
For more information or to RSVP, call MOCA: 612/822-0500.
