The Shelly Ross Memorial Fund was established several years ago by Shelly’s three daughters Stephanie Ross, Jennifer Ross Bruns and Pamela Ross Weinstein to pay tribute to their mother who passed away from ovarian cancer on Mother's Day of 2000. Shelly was involved with the original group of women who founded MOCA. At the time of her death, she expressed an interest in doing something special and significant for MOCA that would sustain the organization’s future and support its mission in hopes that her daughters and granddaughters would not have to travel the same path as she had. Shelly’s family and friends honored her request by initiating and investing in the Fund.
To date, more than 150 supporters have contributed over $100,000 to the Fund. The endowment has grown to include donations from individuals who didn’t even know Shelly, but want to ensure MOCA’s ability to continue its work in the future. Donations support MOCA’s efforts to fund ovarian cancer research in Minnesota, educate the community about ovarian cancer and promote the importance of early detection. The Fund is helping MOCA make a meaningful difference in the lives of women fighting ovarian cancer and their families and friends.
