Raising Awareness One Step at a Time
In the last years of her life, Raine Snyder worked tirelessly to raise awareness of ovarian cancer so no other woman would have
to walk in her shoes. Her deep commitment to education was the direct result of her own personal experience: Raine was
misdiagnosed for 4 ˝ years. She was active on the MOCA board and was responsible for coordinating the Survivors
Training Medical Students at the University of Minnesota. She also participated in the Grand Rounds program.
When Raine passed away last May, Dodie Thomas came up with the idea of “Raine Shoes” as a way to keep her friend’s commitment to MOCA alive. The one-of-a-kind ceramic shoes are fun decorative pieces, which can be used to hold business cards your cell phone or a photo. Shoes are $10 and can be viewed at the MOCA office.
