As an ovarian cancer survivor, information is often shared between patients. This information can be extremely helpful, whether it is support-related, sharing of treatments or how best to handle side effects. Facilitating this exchange of information between patients is one of our objectives. MOCA will be building this capability on our website in the future. In the meantime, if ovarian cancer survivors are interested in connecting with another survivor informally, please contact the MOCA office for assistance at (612) 822-0500.
As an additional resource, ACOR [Association of Cancer Online Resources] www.acor.org offers information and support through its integrated system of online discussion groups. The ACOR lists are free, unmoderated discussions lists for patients, family, friends, researchers and physicians to discuss clinical, non-clinical issues and advances by type of cancer. This may include patient experiences, psychosocial issues, new research, clinical trials and discussions of current and alternative treatment options. There are 2 separate list serves offered by ACOR. One is for all ovarian cancer survivors, and the other is for young women survivors of all types of gynecologic cancers. To join a listserv, visit ACOR's website. From the homepage, click on the link to mailing lists. The Young Survivor's exchange is the link to 2YOUNG-4GYN-CANCER and for all ovarian cancer survivors, scroll to the "Ovarian Problems Discussion List.
